About this item
If you've got a mixed collection of Arcade1Up cabinets, you already know the frustration. Most of your cabinets work flawlessly with Alexa, Google Home, Siri enabled smart home plugs and accessories — power comes on, the cabinet boots up, done. But then there's that one cabinet with the momentary power button that just sits there. Power hits the cabinet, and nothing happens. It won't turn on automatically like the rest of the cabinets, leaving you to walk over and press the button manually every single time. 6 included.
This 3D printed clip is the fix. It holds your cabinet's power button in the engaged position so that when your smart plug restores power, the cabinet boots up just like everything else in your setup. Set it, forget it, and let your smart home handle the rest.
⚠️ Usage Guidelines & Risks
Because this clip bypasses the cabinet's intended power switching behaviour, there are a few important things to keep in mind. Arcade1Up chose this style of power button so that the Live data can safely save before turning off. When you cut the power abruptly, you risk losing that data. This is why you should schedule power cycle of your cabinets no more than twice per day, and schedule them to turn off well after their last use for the day. This ensures whatever data the cabinet would save, has already been saved - lowering the risk of data corruption. We believe this risk is very low, and the negatives (potential data loss) to be a worthwhile trade off, which is why we use these ourselves for every day use. You can search on online forums, such as reddit, to see that others have also taken this approach to overcome this issue.
